Product Overview

The electricity sector urgently requires transformer manufacturers to produce transformers with good fire resistance, small installation area, and low noise. SF6 gas insulated transformers (referred to as GIT) have been developed to meet these requirements. SF6 gas insulated transformers use non-flammable SF6 gas, which has excellent disaster resistance and safety as the insulating medium, and has been recognized as the only type of power transformer that can achieve high voltage and large capacity with superior disaster resistance performance.
Oil-immersed transformers are prone to explosion and fire in case of faults, and leaking oil can pollute the environment. Therefore, they are not suitable for densely populated areas and places with high fire and explosion prevention requirements. On the other hand, dry-type transformers cannot reach the level of 110kV large capacity transformers due to defects in heat dissipation performance and electric field withstand strength. This product overcomes the shortcomings of both oil-immersed transformers and dry-type transformers, meeting the requirements for high voltage, large capacity, and superior fire and explosion prevention performance at the 110kV level. It is suitable for urban densely populated areas, rail transit, and other situations that require power transformers with excellent disaster resistance and safety performance.
Product Features
1. GIT has excellent fire and disaster resistance, and is environmentally friendly.
SF6 gas is non-flammable and has very stable physical and chemical properties, eliminating the need for additional fire-fighting equipment and preventing oil pollution in the environment.
2. The only disaster-resistant transformer that can achieve high voltage and large capacity.
So far, the main types of fire and disaster-resistant transformers used in the world are dry-type transformers and GIT. However, the former is recognized to have a maximum voltage of 35kV and a capacity of 20MVA, while the latter can reach 220kV and 240MVA.
3. Simple maintenance and longer lifespan.
The transformer is completely sealed in an outer gas tank, and when connected to GIS externally, no connection parts are exposed to the air, eliminating the adverse effects of moisture and dust on transformer operation, making maintenance convenient and extending its lifespan.
4. Small footprint, more compact substations, and flexible layout.
The footprint of GIT is roughly equivalent to that of oil-immersed transformers of the same capacity and voltage level, but it does not require additional fire-fighting equipment, underground oil pits, or oil storage systems. The low density of SF6 gas allows for flexible arrangement of radiators in staggered or layered configurations. When the distribution device uses fully enclosed combined electrical equipment (GIS), connecting GIT directly to GIS can eliminate auxiliary equipment such as cable heads, significantly reducing the footprint of the substation.
5. Lower installation height of the transformer, reducing civil construction costs.
GIT does not have an oil storage tank, so its height can be reduced by 20% compared to oil-immersed transformers. If cable/gas-insulated joints are used for outgoing lines, the height can be reduced by 30%, which is very beneficial for reducing civil investment in underground substations.
